The İnternational Olive Council (İOC) still adopts the HPLC method for Polyphenol Measurement in this technological era.
Whereas;
The HPLC method is not sufficient to measure polyphenols according to EU HEALTH CLAİM labeling regulation 432/2012. The regulation doesn't mention tyrosol equivalents, it says tyrosol derivatives. qNMR measures each of the polyphenols at its appropriate concentration. HPLC is a general chromatographic approximation of phenolic content, not a quantitative measurement.
Claiming the opposite is quite common information poluution in the olive oil market.
Our analyzes are made by qNMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) method.
